SPOILER ALERT: Concepts will be discussed below that don't directly reference story pieces in the game, but do talk about game structure and design.
It was unfathomable when Hideo Kojima had a dramatic break-up with Konami. Working together for 28 years didn't seem to matter as both the legendary Metal Gear creator and Japanese publisher split paths in a way that left gamers in shock.

DS: Despite the fact Ground Zeroes gave us a vertical slice of what would be on offer, I wasnt really prepared for what The Phantom Pain ended up delivering. The scale of the game be it the size of its maps, the scope of the gameplay, and the challenges available overtakes anything weve previously seen from the Metal Gear Solid franchise. You could even say its the logical conclusion to Kojimas work in terms of gameplay and accessibility, with the end result being something that stands head and should above anything else remotely similar.
In short, Kojima has effectively re-written the rulebook on stealth games yet again, but is it the perfect game? Thats a question that isnt so easy to answer.

Graham at GameSpew writes: "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the last final hurrah for Hideo Kojima, and the last breath in the (Kojima made) Metal Gear games, but rather than a final gasp, its an almighty roar. Kojima is going out with an impossibly loud bang with quite possibly the greatest open world game ever made.
Im going to get straight to the point here. This is one of the greatest open world video games ever made. In a genre that has been stagnating for years under the weight of huge worlds littered with shallow side quests, minor distractions and pathetic mini-games, Kojima sweeps this cluttered table clean with The Phantom Pain and keeps on going right into the sunset. Metal Gear Solid V is a vast game, and untangling all the many little strands of detail and complexity that make up each moment of the game makes it hard for me to know where to even begin describing it."
